Enjoy a free parkrun this Herts Big Weekend!
Stride into the Herts Big Weekend at a free parkrun across the county!
As we welcome in the Herts Big Weekend, we want to remind you about parkruns! It’s unlikely you’ll have missed hearing about these volunteer led, super fun, free, weekly mass participation runs, but in case you have, here’s the lowdown…
Parkrun is a 5km timed run that takes place every Saturday at 9am. Junior parkruns are on Sundays at 9am, but only 2km. You’re only running against your own best time, which removes the whole competitive business. Your personalised bar code helps you keep track of progress as it records your time when you cross the finish line at any run. Oh and by the way, we have twenty in Hertfordshire!
Parkruns are a fantastic way to explore the leafy outdoor spaces our county has to offer, and if you’re visiting Herts this weekend, will be an energetic kick off to your day out. It’s really invigorating, that morning air. Walking to the start line amid a sea of smiling faces, a bit of calf stretching and hip circles to get the blood flowing and you’re off! But don’t be fooled by the name – there are plenty of joggers and leisurely strollers to be found en route. We all start somewhere!
So which will you choose this weekend? Ellenbrook Fields? Fairlands Valley? Gadebridge Park? Maybe Verulamium Park is closer to home. Check out all of the options at www.parkrun.org.uk.
